We are gearing up for a very exciting period in our long history and currently have an opening for a Student Loan Coordinator at our Central Administrative Office in San Francisco.
The Student Loan Coordinator is responsible for educating new, existing and exiting students of their rights and responsibilities regarding any Title IV FFELP debt they have incurred. Through communication and training, reduce student confusion and frustration with the loan process. Manage the responsibility for the Default Management program at the corporate level for 2 to 3 campuses, maintaining a Cohort Default Rate with acceptable Heald College standards of 10% or less at each. Work at the corporate level in validating the loan status information that is received from servicers, EdFund / California Student Aid Commission (CSAC), and United Student Aid Funds (USAF). Monitor each student during the first three years of repayment. Assist students in navigating the loan repayment process, ensuring that their loans remain in good standing. The Student Loan Coordinator will serve as a liaison and conduit for information with lenders, servicers and guarantee agencies. They will need to have thorough knowledge of all information regarding loan management.
Major responsibilities will be conducted in the assigned region and include:

Assist campuses with borrower education of in-school students

Monitor Exit Interviews for each student who is withdrawing/graduating and has a Title IV loan balance

Ensure that Heald has current demographic information
-
provide borrowers with information regarding their monthly payments

Assist with the resolution of issues/problems borrowers are having with their lender/servicer
-
Track and communicate with borrowers during grace period by phone and letters
-
Track and communicate with delinquent borrowers regarding borrower status and ways to resolve delinquency by phone and letters

Interface with lenders, guarantors and servicers

Complete and send bi-monthly reports on current Cohort Years to Corporate Default Manager

Heavy phone responsibilities

Maintain records for the Cohort Year, including, but not limited to:
-
Number and identification of borrowers in the cohort year
-
Number and identification of monthly delinquencies
-
Number and identification of monthly defaults
-
Perform other functions and responsibilities as required by the Corporate Default Manager

If student is not available, the above listed materials must be sent by mail to the student within 30 days of the Last Date of Attendance
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
-
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and have 1-3 years of office experience

Must be customer service oriented with the ability to effectively communicate

Must have the ability to prioritize, execute multiple priorities and be self motivated. The candidate will be able to learn quickly and work independently

Must have clerical skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel is preferred. Must have the ability to travel as needed and have a flexible schedule
