Your Role

The Innovation Analyst, Principal is responsible for providing thought leadership to business leaders across the enterprise to address ambiguous problems and opportunities through internal strategy and/or innovation consulting engagements. This role will serve as a change agent, leveraging a consistent and disciplined approach to strategy and innovation to design dynamic yet enduring strategies. This role will use data-driven internal and external insights, executive stakeholder management, design thinking principles, and strategy design to provide decision support to business and executive leaders. The Innovation Analyst, Principal will collaborate with stakeholders across all functions to translate enterprise and business-unit strategies into specific objectives and key results. The Innovation Analyst, Principal will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a consistent approach to strategic initiatives through design of strategic plans that connect to operations and ensure a high probability of success. This position will have a pivotal role in supporting the ongoing building and execution of enterprise and business-unit level strategies to strengthen Blue Shield of California's ability to transform healthcare.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Systematically leverage a consistent, repeatable approach to strategy design and innovation, including the associated engagement model, tools, resources and artifacts
  • Research market trends and user experiences to support the design of new visions and possible scenarios for the organization
  • Collaborate with strategy design teams to develop strategic direction of projects/programs and alignment across the enterprise, to inform decision-making at all levels of the organization
  • Define comprehensive enterprise and business-unit strategies, including clear, shared objectives that tie to outcomes that product value for members, providers, and colleagues
  • Leverage market, external, and industry insights to identify opportunities and make strategic recommendations, including building our enterprise competitive intelligence capabilities
  • Facilitate design session, workshops, or focus groups to engage key stakeholders across the enterprise
  • Create highly professional presentations to communicate and support findings
  • Create executive materials to maintain clear, succinct, and meaningful communication with Blue Shield executives and our Board

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires minimum 10 years of prior experience in strategy and innovation; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Requires a proven track record of company-wide contributions
  • Requires mastery level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Deep knowledge of strategy and innovation
  • Graduate degree (MBA, MPH or MHA) and Design Thinking certification preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare industry environment, health plan/insurance or healthcare provider preferred
  • Core consulting skills: knowledge of management consulting and client management, including meeting and workshop development and management, presentation production, inductive/deductive reasoning, client interviewing, issue analysis, data analysis, process design, change management
  • Expertise in design thinking, including the ability to lead diverse stakeholders to surface ideas and insights in the development of new and innovative design experiences
  • Experience navigating large and complex organizations, including gaining access to key executives and stakeholders and successfully managing relationship building dynamics and processes within a highly matrixed environment
  • Deep understanding of innovation and strategic frameworks with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Project management skills, Agile methodology experience preferred

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 145970.00 to $ 218900.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
