Overview

The Associate Team Leader plays a supporting role to technical and management leadership within the Land Cover team. The Land Cover team is responsible for deriving a variety of land use land cover datasets from remotely sensed data sources, such as aerial imagery and LiDAR. This individual helps supervise a team of knowledgeable staff who perform all production tasks required to move a project unit from data preparation to final delivery. These datasets are developed for various clients and are utilized in applications such as water resource management, habitat monitoring, and coastal resilience efforts. The Associate Team Leader helps supervise a team of knowledgeable staff who perform production tasks required to move a project unit from data preparation to final delivery. Responsibilities of this role include facilitating technical workflow and programmatic process improvements, monitoring project benchmarks, providing oversight of data quality control (QC) and personnel management of technician through analyst level team members by tracking Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and providing professional mentorship.

Responsibilities

Personnel Management of Team Members:

    Supervises technical production team members by appropriately delegating tasks
  • Implements and tracks individual and team KPIs (utilization, effective rate, etc)
  • Coordinates with individuals to establish, track, and progress towards professional goals
  • Aids in hiring new team members

Production Supervision and oversight:

  • Identification and coordination on the implementation of workflow process improvements
  • Supports proactive planning and communication of team resourcing needs
  • Maintains tracking of data availability to ensure effective resource allocation
  • Provides QC oversight of internal and external workflow deliverables
  • Ensures adherence to project-specific best practices and standards

Project Management:

  • Assists in project archival tasks
  • Helps track project progress toward deadlines

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • 2+ years' experience in a technical and professional environment
  • 1+ years' experience with GIS, understanding of geoprocessing tools, data management, and production tracking
  • Ability to read maps, understand coordinate systems, familiarity with vector/raster datasets
  • Strong personnel management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or higher
  • 3+ years' experience in both a technical and professional environment
  • 1+ years' experience managing teams
  • Desire to grow career by helping others to grow their careers
  • Wide knowledge of the geospatial field
  • Familiarity with remote sensing
