Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Rehabilitation Attendant **Langone Orthopedic Center**.

In this role, the successful candidate assists in the delivery of services as indicated for all rehabilitation disciplines (e.g. Speech, Occupational, Physical Therapy, Psychology and Exercise Physiology).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Planning and Time utilization - Completes assignments within allocated time frames, utilizes free time effectively; is alert to the needs of the treatment area, demonstrates reliability by maintaining a good attendance/punctuality record.
  • Initiative - Volunteers assistance to others, makes recommendations for work simplification practices, demonstrates a desire to learn more.
  • Judgment/ Decision making. Seeks information or asks for assistance from appropriate personnel when necessary, follows verbal instructions carefully, demonstrates alertness to changes in patient conditions; notifies appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Patient transportation - Transports patients upon request according to safety and departmental guidelines.
  • Clerical and reception activities- Answers the telephone and takes messages accurately, maintains records and files correctly in each area as needed, and performs other clerical duties as requested
  • Surveillance of environmental conditions - Follows established procedures for safety and emergencies. Follows infection control procedures. Follows pest control procedures. Identifies potential hazards and takes appropriate action.
  • Maintenance of supplies, equipment, and the unit - Monitors the level of inventory and notifies the supervisor if additional supplies are needed. Maintains all site equipment by ensuring it is kept clean and in good working condition. Makes recommendations for the repair or replacement of equipment. Maintains the unit by keeping it clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards as per hospital infection control guidelines
  • Assists in treatment - Follows the instructions given by the provider. Follows equipment guidelines including: tilt table, in preparation for treatment. Assists in ambulation and other treatments as indicated by the provider. Assist the provider in preparing and breaking down necessary equipment.
  • Transfer activities Advises, prepares and performs transfer activities in preparation for treatment.
  • Cold and heat modalities: Prepares and removes cold packs, hot packs and paraffin as specified by the therapist. Follows established departmental procedures and takes safety precautions in the use and application of the various modalities.
  • Patient Preparation: Assists the patient in preparation for and at the conclusion of treatment. Maintains the patients safety and comfort by following procedural and safety guidelines. Monitors the patients personal care and environment constantly, assists the patient with toileting needs when indicated. Uses the appropriate supplies and equipment in relation to the type of treatment or service being administered following departmental safety guidelines. Assists the patient in dressing and undressing with appropriate supervision.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties. Excellence: Demonstrates good judgment in performance of positions function. Offers suggestions for positive changes for achieving individual unit and department goals. Respect: Interacts with patients and their families in a courteous and respectful manner. Treats each person as a unique individual with individual health care needs. Teamwork: Works collaboratively and shares necessary tools and resources to accomplish goals. Is open to the ideas, approaches, and perspective of others. Maintains a good rapport with other staff and physicians. Assumes additional responsibilities and perceives the total need of the unit. Integrity: Acts ethically and upholds the organization code of ethics. Maintains proper levels of confidentially of patient information. Caring: Acts as an advocate for the patient in all areas of the health care delivery system. Develops a supportive and therapeutic relationship with the patient. Demonstrates an empathetic disposition towards people in need of health care services Communication: Communicates in a professional manner that is clear, concise and timely for optimal results. Able to adapt methods of professional communication to meet the needs of the listener. Displays an understanding of the importance of listening to information thoroughly in order to effectively communicate. Safety: Demonstrates competence in utilizing equipment in a safe and proper manner. Observes infection control, health and safety hazards and takes precautionary measures to reduce or eliminate risks. Physical Environment: Maintains an organized, uncluttered work environment. Initiates ideas for improving the physical environment for optimal delivery of services. Notifies appropriate persons when equipment is in need of repair or is missing. Learning and Professional Growth: Keeps abreast of current literature as new developments in the field.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to communicate well with staff and patients and follow instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $43,076.57 - $50,147.87 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
