The anticipated salary range for this role is between $158,895.00and $196,167.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

SUMMARY:

SMBC MANUBANK is committed to ensuring that all our customers' and employees' data is protected. Reporting to the Director, Privacy Officer - SMBC MANUBANK, the Privacy Compliance Manager (PCM) will oversee activities related to Privacy Compliance Risk at SMBC MANUBANK. The PCM will be responsible for measuring, assessing, mitigating, and reporting Privacy Compliance Risk. Responsibilities include daily operations of the Privacy Compliance Risk program; development, implementation, and maintenance of strategies and Privacy Compliance Risk activities.

PRINICPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Structure and implement programmatic functions related to Privacy Compliance Risk including identifying enterprise Privacy compliance risk exposure and implementing controls needed
  • Take a central role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Privacy Compliance Risk program across SMBC - MANUBANK
  • Create and maintain data Privacy policies, standards, and procedures on a regular basis to ensure completeness, sustainability and clarity as business landscape evolves
  • Leverage audit findings, internal and external case studies, and stakeholder feedback to identify possible framework gaps to be addressed
  • Perform information Privacy Compliance Risk assessments and oversee risk mitigation and remediation efforts
  • Collaborate with legal for assessment and advice on Privacy-related Compliance Risks (e.g., new or existing products and services, technology and applications for the use and processing of data)
  • Identify and plan for implementation of controls for managing Privacy Compliance Risk in conjunction with Vendor Management, Records Management, Information Security, Data Governance, Information Technology, and Privacy Counsel
  • Monitor the use and effectiveness of Privacy-related Compliance Risk mitigation and measures with updates reviewed and implemented as needed
  • Partner with Information Security to ensure alignment between security and Privacy programs, including policies, practices, and investigations
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
  • 7+ years of relevant operational Privacy Compliance experience
  • 5+ years of banking experience
  • Demonstrable understanding of developing and implementing controls and compliance and operational risk management within a financial services organization
  • Knowledge and experience with national and state/territorial Privacy laws, including GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, PIPEDA, etc.
  • Experience applying Privacy-by-Design principles
  • Solid understanding of banking products, operations, and data
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive approach to communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views while bring able to influence across a wide range of internal stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and management skills; experience working with teams containing entry-level and senior-level staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience presenting to executive management
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Privacy certification such as CIPP or CIPM is preferred
