Overview

The Programmer Analyst I (will consider higher level) is responsible for the analysis and development of software enhancements and solutions to problems submitted by users. They assist end users in the use of new and modified programs. Additionally, they assist other programmers with their design and implementations. They develop programming applications for the credit union core system, Symitar Episys, related systems, using PowerOn, Symitar's proprietary programming language.

Responsibilities
    Researches, designs, documents, and modifies software specifications throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with Credit Union staff to determine software needs, gather requirements, development, and implementation of new or updated software programs and applications.
  • Exercises and promotes good stewardship of systems and their resources.
  • Analyzes and assesses existing business systems and procedures and suggests and implements improvements to processes and programs.
  • Assists in the definition, development, and documentation of programming and application needs.
  • Abides by coding standards, software development practices, and policies and procedures established in the department.
  • Troubleshoots and remedies issues reported or discovered in programs.
  • Assists with the control of the integrity of databases and files.
  • Develops program solutions utilizing the Symitar Episys PowerOn proprietary language.
  • Develops computer programs to enhance and ensure the efficient use of Credit Union systems.
  • Maintains member and other data and produces requested reports for the Credit Union.
  • Facilitates and welcomes cross-training opportunities for both self-developed code and the code of others.
  • Develops and maintains documentation and comments code to provide clear understanding of the purpose and operational procedures of the program.
  • Identifies exceptions and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains current knowledge of computer technology.
  • Proposes potential programming solutions to more senior developers or management and coordinates implementations with them and other IT departments and management.
  • Provides information for the development of formal or informal end-user training.
  • Works with the IT Service Portal, including accepting work assignments; updating and closing requests, and maintaining accurate timekeeping within requests.
  • Sends periodic updates to internal customers notifying them of the status of their requests.
  • Provide assistance, training, and support for programs to end-users.
  • Responsible for providing the highest level of quality service to both members and co-workers.
  • Adapts to evolving practices in the department and organization.
  • Satisfies annual training requirements, training assignments, and related activities.

A working knowledge of:

  • Programming in Java, C# .net, or Symitar PowerOn and related developer environments
  • Programming algorithms and other programming concepts
  • Database and database reporting concepts
  • Working knowledge of current Internet technologies/concepts
  • PC operation and software including MS Office suite.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Must be able to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality of that information.
  • Must have excellent oral & written communication skills.

Qualifications

Education: 4 Year/Bachelors Degree in a computer related field preferred.

Pay Range
USD $29.28 - USD $43.93 /Hr.
