Job Description

PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES
At Hartwell Corporation as a Manufacturing Engineer, where you'll spearhead initiatives aimed at maximizing cost savings while enhancing efficiency and productivity across manufacturing processes. As a pivotal member of our team, you'll take ownership of designing and optimizing manufacturing processes to minimize expenses and maximize output. Your primary focus will be on driving cost-effective solutions through meticulous analysis and innovative problem-solving.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES – other duties may be assigned
  1. Leads initiatives to enhance productivity across the facility, focusing on streamlining manufacturing processes for greater efficiency.
  2. Designs and optimizes the layout for various manufacturing stages, including machining, processing, assembly, and material handling, to maximize productivity and efficiency in the production of company products.
  3. Continuously identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions to drive cost savings throughout the manufacturing process.
  4. Actively participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing insights and recommendations to support cost-saving initiatives.
  5. Participates in the review of engineering designs and drawings, suggesting modifications to enhance manufacturability as part of the concurrent engineering process.
  6. Creates visual work instructions, detailed production drawings, and planning documents, outlining the sequence of operations required for efficient production of company products.
  7. Investigates production issues, collaborates with operations teams to implement solutions, and drives continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
  8. Develops and implements modifications to machine tools and existing manufacturing processes to accommodate new production requirements and enhance overall process efficiency.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  1. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
  2. Proficient in spoken and written English
  3. Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial or manufacturing technology.
  4. Preferred 3-5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or a related field.
  5. Experience in prototype manufacturing and operation of CNC machining centers, with a preference for experience in milling (Horizontal Mills preferred) and lathe machines.
  6. Demonstrated capability in implementing manufacturing methods and tools.
  7. Familiarity with ISO 9000 quality standards, lean manufacturing techniques, and computer-aided design; proficiency in SolidWorks is advantageous.
  8. Experience in a high mix/low volume aerospace environment is preferred.
  9. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively across different organizational functions, achieving results independently of direct reporting structures.
  2. Highly motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbal expression.
