What you'll do

As the Materials Manager for (A Shyft Group Brand) based at our manufacturing facility in , you will enjoy overseeing the company's need for common inventory, special buyouts, and associated supplies, as well as delivery schedules for the day-to-day operations.

In addition, you will also be involved with strategic materials sourcing activities, cost targeting, supplier performance metrics, supplier development, risk mitigation, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering initiatives (VA/VE).

You will also:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Bill of Materials for all
  • Partner with the Scheduler to align deliveries with production schedule
  • Ensure materials planning activities stay on schedule and within budget
  • Attend daily materials planning meetings, create forecasting reports
  • Close materials planning gaps to hit monthly target goals
  • Examine manufacturing data, and forecasts, develop monthly plans
  • Identify trends, anomalies, improvement opportunities
  • Provide materials management support to all branches, installation centers
  • Maintain 'Days on Hand' inventory at manufacturing plant, branches
  • Oversee semi-annual physical inventory counts
  • Process branch inventory transfers in SAGE
  • Manage aged, finished goods reports, partner with sales, and branch managers to sell off
  • Review, and align blanket, and existing purchase orders with 'Days on Hand' targets
  • Track global shipments, identify issues
  • Improve inventory turn goals, manage, creates inventory control reports and implements inventory control processes
  • Review back ordered items, expedite shipping
  • Coordinate customer returns, ensure credit
  • Provide customer follow-up on outstanding purchase order issues
  • Collaborate with supervisors, and logistics for monthly cycle counts
  • Serve as Inventory SME for Supply Chain, aligning supply to factory, branches
  • Reduce shop supplies spend target
  • Obtain new MRO, engineering/operations samples
  • Monitor suppliers for On-Time Delivery, Quality, report issues
  • Occasionally visit suppliers' facilities
  • Implement Long Term Supplier Agreements with strategic suppliers
  • Manage supplier relationships, and align suppliers' operating plans to business goals
  • Support continuous improvement of materials management processes, systems
  • Institute KANBAN replenishment systems
  • Inspect large ticket buyouts like cranes, compressors, liftgates, dump beds, hoists

What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor's degree (Preferred) in Business, Materials Management, Finance, Engineering, Operations, or equivalent materials management experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Three or more (3+) years of manufacturing expertise in a manufacturing leadership role with exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes and commodities and/or warehouse/distribution and/or materials management experience

What makes you stand out

  • Expertise in specialty vehicle manufacturing, including Trucks, Buses, and Agriculture/Construction equipment
  • Experience with global product sourcing
  • Bilingual English and Mandarin or Spanish
  • Proficiency in SAGE and Excel
