Position Description

The RAND Corporation has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Dean, Academic Affairs. The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs is responsible for overseeing the academic programs and initiatives of the school, ensuring they align with the school strategic goals and objectives. Some of the duties include:

  • Oversee, develop, and implement academic programs and initiatives that support the mission and goals of the school.

  • Oversee faculty appointments.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that academic programs are of the highest quality and meet the needs of students and stakeholders.

  • Oversee the development and implementations of academic policies and procedures, ensuring they are consistent with best practices.

  • Manage the academic budget, including allocation of resources for academic programming and initiatives.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on academic matters and policies.

  • Ensure the academic programs comply with accreditation standards.

  • Oversee the assessment and evaluation of academic programs, using data to inform decision-making and continuous improvements, including:

    • Developing and implementing assessment plans for academic programs

    • Collecting and analyzing data related to student learning outcomes, program effectiveness, and other key metrics.

    • Using assessment data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendation for programmatic changes.

    • Ensuring assessment efforts are in compliance with accreditation standards.

  • Oversee the Faculty Committee on the Curriculum and Appointments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Computer proficient in all Microsoft Office

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Not required but preferred

Education Requirements

PhD in public policy, economics, social sciences, or relevant field required.

Experience

6 or more years of relevant experience required. 9-10 year preferred.

Location

This position may work from the RAND location in Santa Monica. This position offers a flex work arrangement with a mix of time in the office and working from home. While a flex work arrangement is preferred, fully remote work may be considered.

Salary Range

$147,000 - $224,000

RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken). In addition, RAND provides strong benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid time-off and more.
