Position Description:

The Operations Manager at Rio Vista plays a crucial role in the production of the Road Zipper machine and barriers. Their responsibilities include analyzing, reporting, and enhancing production processes. They focus on improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness using LEAN principles. Additionally, the Manager is accountable for motivating the team, fostering their development, and boosting the performance, efficiency, and profitability of the departments within their business area.

Position Details:

This is a full-time position located in Rio Vista, CA, reporting directly to the Vice President of Engineering. The main responsibilities of this position will emphasize the manager's role in strategic leadership, team development, operational efficiency, financial oversight, safety, supplier relations, reporting, continuous improvement and talent management. This role requires minimal travel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Infrastructure Road Zipper business unit, driving both strategic and tactical initiatives to achieve key objectives.
  • Foster a vision for operational excellence and innovation within the manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and train the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to enhance skills and overall performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback for professional growth.
  • Organize Lean events and team meetings to optimize business performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline processes and improve overall execution and teamwork.
  • Supervise departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Implement quality assurance controls to enhance the customer experience and manage operational costs effectively.
  • Manage budgets, ensuring expenses align with or improve upon established plans.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment, adhering to EH&S regulations and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Oversee facility and equipment upgrades to enhance production capabilities and ensure product quality.
  • Drive accountability and performance among both internal and external suppliers to maintain a seamless supply chain.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on production, budgets, and KPIs for executive review.
  • Develop and manage annual KPIs across various operational areas to track and measure progress.
  • Act as a positive change agent, promoting and facilitating a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Initiate and lead projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Handle talent acquisition, retention, employee development, and performance management.
  • Create a positive and inclusive work environment that aligns with the core values of Lindsay Corporation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management/engineering or related field, or minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including roles as a production or manufacturing manager.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing and SQDC.
  • Strong skills in team building, decision-making, and people management.
  • Experience in the manufacturing space to include metal bending, welding and machine experience - strongly preferred.
  • Engineering background with a business mindset - strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in complex problem-solving and prioritization.
  • Proactive with strong initiative and a sense of urgency.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and experienced with ERP systems.
