In this role you will driving a first-class installation and maintenance experience for Generac Clean Energy installers by defining and delivering an installer-centric mobile app and related integrations with business systems. You will develop a deep understanding of our installers' pain points and drive the development and launch of applications and integrations that deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes. You will work on both a strategic and tactical level to discover problems, achieve organizational alignment on product strategy and roadmap, and manage solution delivery from ideation through the overall product lifecycle. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence a key area of the company's strategy and involves close collaboration with a team of driven product managers and clean energy industry veterans. Successful candidates should possess a data driven approach and demonstrated ability to evangelize issues with wide stakeholder groups, driving continuous value creation and product evolution.


This role is open to candidates based out of Vancouver, BC; Bend, OR; Portland, ME; or San Francisco Bay Area, CA.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for the definition, development, and product lifecycle of a mobile app to optimize the installation and maintenance of Generac Clean Energy equipment
  • Practice continuous discovery to build a deep understanding of installers, their work floes and challenges encountered in the field
  • Conduct market, persona, and competitive research, and distill this knowledge into actionable artifacts disseminated across the organization
  • Define and communicate strategic vision, product strategies, and a prioritized outcome-based roadmap for the Installer Experience
  • Utilize formal and informal communication to drive product strategy across the organization and gain buy-in from a broad stakeholder base in a matrix environment.
  • Prepare actionable epics for your engineering team and collaborate with your peer engineering lead on maintaining a prioritized backlog, balancing business outcomes with technical constraints and dependencies to maximize value delivery
  • Ideate and validate feasibility, usability, and viability of solutions to high value problems in collaboration with engineering leads and product designers
  • Define and monitor key product metrics to validate that delivered solutions achieve business outcomes.
  • Build and deliver timely reports and presentation to internal stakeholders and external customers, including relevant metrics and information related to your products or category.
  • Support product releases and sales activities through release notes, documentation, events, online or in-person training, and marketing materials.




Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, SW Engineer for software products, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong focus on user-centered design, and a demonstrated ability to set and drive outcome-based product metrics.
  • Familiarity with Solar and Energy Storage Systems technologies and sales channels
  • Experience using Agile methodologies and close collaboration with HW/SW engineering and Product Design teams.
  • Proven ability to articulate a business case to stakeholders and customers, including relevant product and market information tailored to the audience
  • Demonstrable experience in conceiving, developing and launching new software products using a cross-disciplinary approach
  • Previous experience as a software developer, or equivalent experience with React Native and/or IoT products is an asset

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation skills
  • Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Atlassian products
  • Ability to act proactively and identify innovative solutions
  • Ability to read and understand technical information well enough to convey in communication to multiple audiences
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage ambiguity with a bias for action.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus. Travel up to 20% might be required.

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in (The West Coast or Remote) is $115,000 - $158,000 plus geographic differential. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long term incentives.
