Job Summary:

As an EMC/EMC Electrical Engineer, you will support the data systems product line to develop and sustain data transfer and storage systems. You will interface with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) as part of product development activities for new and existing products. As part of the IPT, you will be responsible for taking a design from concept through development and into production. You will also support root-cause analysis investigations and design updates to existing products to address production yield and field performance issues.

You will be a part of a world-class Engineering Team for the Mission Systems division, a leading provider of safety-certifiable avionics, mission-critical, and electronic warfare solutions. You will be a part of our Platforms Systems organization at Mercury. We all work together to design, develop, and produce the next generation military avionics including video data processing products ranging from high-definition video recorders to pilot display systems. We are an agile team focused on delivering innovative, high-quality products to our customers on time and on budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Writes detailed, step-by-step EMI Test Procedures and Test Plans based on requirements stated in product requirements documents and applicable published EMI/EMC standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-464, RTCA D0-160, TEMPEST
  • Advises Engineering concerning the design of EMI test cables, qualification test fixtures, and qualification test software to ensure compliance of the cables with applicable published standards to ensure that performance of the product is properly monitored during EMI/EMC testing
  • Sets up equipment under test, related cabling, fixturing, and product monitoring test equipment in the EMI Laboratory for internal EMI tests
  • Monitors and controls susceptibility test signals during internal susceptibility testing in accordance with an EMI test procedure
  • Assists Engineering in troubleshooting EMI test failures, determining root causes, and provides recommendations to mitigate the failure
  • Generates an EMI test report for each product tested internally
  • Reviews externally generated EMI test plans, procedures and reports for completeness and accuracy
  • Provides estimates of time and cost to perform or subcontract EMI/EMC tests
  • Provides recommendations for continuous improvement of the EMI Laboratory
  • Performing EMI analyses of designs and recommending improvements to assist with EMI susceptibility and emissions compliance
  • Design and oversee EMI/EMC testing to investigate compliance with applicable EMI/EMC requirements
  • Oversee and perform EMI/EMC test and measurements using standard and precision measurement equipment and automated software
  • Investigate sources of EMI/EMC issues and propose solutions to reduce emissions or susceptibility
  • Capture, analyze, and create reports to ensure all applicable data is captured
  • Work with engineering teams to design products to meet applicable EMI/EMC standards
  • Generating test procedures and specifications based on applicable test standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field with 3+ years' experience.
  • Experience with box-level EMI/EMC design, test, measurements, and mitigation techniques
  • Experience in the development of electronics, including schematic design, circuit simulation, signal integrity analysis, and EMI/EMC compliance
  • This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Advanced Degree
  • Experience to DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-704 requirements
  • iNARTE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC/EMI) Certification
