We are currently seeking a Sr Labor Relations HR Business Partner with strong roots in contract negotiations, settling grievances, etc. to join our team in Canoga Park, CA.
The Labor Relations HR Business Partner, will work under the general supervision of the Senior Human Resources Manager in our Canoga Park, CA Space Headquarters, performing a variety of tasks in accordance with policies and procedures, the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and past practice. This position requires a complete working knowledge of practices, techniques and standards within the area of Labor Relations using experience and independent judgment.
This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

60% - Performs day-to-day labor agreement administration, grievance resolution and investigations. Provides interpretation and guidance to hourly supervisors and managers regarding labor agreement interpretation and application. Works with supervisors and managers to ensure compliance with labor agreement and company directives. Assists in the preparation for labor negotiations. Prepares for meetings including documents, reports, files, distribution and other materials. Prepares/initiates routine and non-routine correspondence, memoranda, reports and meeting minutes from marginal notes or verbal instructions. Screens Bargaining Unit (BU) employees for advancement. Performs recruitment planning activities, including posting job announcements, arranging meetings etc.
15% - Engage in proactive grievance avoidance LR practices such as training leaders on how to manage a union workforce, understanding the CBA and positive leadership practices; tracking of data to identify trends and make recommendations to leadership on how to address them; establishing trust of union employees and their union representatives by doing floor walks, roundtables, etc.
15% - Assigns and/or tracks grievances, pay grade changes, position changes and process changes; supports administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements, including interacting with Business Unit employees and various levels of elected union officers. Maintains document integrity and traceability by establishing and maintaining well-organized electronic filing systems and documentation. Organizes and assumes responsibility for maintenance of files, records and other documents. Prepares statistical records and reports. Supports special projects and requests as required, provide timely response to customers, peers and management with summary and supporting details as needed, presents analysis results to both internal and external customers, and identify process improvement opportunities.
10% - Performs other duties as needed.
This role requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business Industrial Relations or a related field and three (3) years of experience in labor relations, human resources, contract administration or a similar function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
Additional Requirements:
Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
