Job Description

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Marine Structural Engineer to join our Costa Mesa office. As part of the Waterfront Structural Group, this position designs waterfront structures and marine infrastructures projects, including marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, bulkheads, breakwater and shore protection structures.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Management of projects, including budgets, scheduling and documentation preparation, support and evaluation
  • Construction support
  • Resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspection
  • Design detailed plans and structural analysis
  • Perform finite element static and dynamic structural modelling of marine and waterfront structures
  • Prepare design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
  • Calculates quantity estimates
  • Coordinate plan details with drafting technicians
  • Prepares inspection reports as needed
  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering; required
  • Master's degree in Structural engineering; required
  • Ph.D. in Civil or Structural engineering; preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure; required
  • 6+ years of experience in structural engineering design; required
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$109,000 to $133,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California market.

Physical requirements:

Work is generally performed in an office or client office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required. Travel may be required.
