Job Summary This position is part-time for 10 hours per week. Candidates interested in more hours need not apply. Working under general supervision of the Scholar Housing Coordinator, assists with apartment unit inventories and assessments. Performs basic, but varied general duties. Applies department policies and procedures and utilizes general knowledge of other department's functions. Interacts with multiple levels of staff addressing residential needs with care and diplomacy for a vast array of cultural figures from around the world.
Major Job Responsibilities
Tidies indoor and outdoor common areas on each shift.
Maintains apartment storage and common areas in a perfectly displayed and clean manner on each shift.
Assesses apartments between guests; checking inventory and condition of all items (furniture, floors, artwork, linens, dishes/flatware, pots/pans, electronics, cleaning supplies), removes and replaces items as needed. Touch-up up cleaning, and moving furniture may be necessary.
Accepts and processes deliveries, putting items away and disposes of trash.
Reports maintenance issues to appropriate authorities
Maintains maintenance and repair records. May accompany vendors in apartments when work completed by outside technicians.
Receives new guests and provides orientations to the apartment units when needed.
Interacts with residents to answer questions and meet apartment needs
Assists with special event set-ups and clean up as needed.
Assembles and moves furniture and other items.
Assists with small maintenance tasks.
May perform clerical duties such as typing, data entry, photocopying, record compilation, filing, tabulating, posting information, and distributing mail, supplies and equipment.
Provides coverage in the Housing Coordinator’s absence.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED
Minimum 2-3 years related experience, particularly in retail, stocking, or running a household

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to lift items to 50lbs, climb stairs and step stools
Handy with small tools
Comfort with furniture assembly instructions and very basic handy-person skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Basic computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications
Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate professionally and collegially
