The role of the Sales Engineer is to manage all technical aspects involved with identifying significant enterprise data center, cloud and/or edge customers, understanding their needs and outcomes, aligning these needs with appropriate business models which map to a technology stack solution involving Seagate offerings and partner offerings. To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a credible and compelling presence at senior business and technical level customers and with Seagate Engineering and Marketing. The candidate must have a firm grasp of the stack of technologies utilized in on-premise storage, Cloud and Edge computing environments. Further, the candidate must be well versed regarding the dynamics influencing technology decisions and the ability to clearly and succinctly advise customers as well as Seagate management.

About the role - you will:
  • Partner with VARs, System Integrators, and the Seagate sales team to identify opportunities across the SMB, enterprise, cloud, and edge customers. Navigate and penetrate these accounts to form relationships at senior business and technical levels
  • Significant focus on the Media and Entertainment market
  • Own and manage the technical relationship with the customer. Support the partner selling motion across prospecting -> demonstrating -> implementing the hands on evaluation / POC process -> leading technical portion of RFI/RFQs -> winning!
  • Understand the customer's technical roadmap, systems architecture, pain points, competitive options, and business drivers. Establish the role of trusted advisor with the customer. Identify solutions for Seagate and the partner ecosystem to provide value, and use these value points to influence the customer to secure qualification of Seagate products.
  • Provide input to the product and engineering teams on customer requirements
  • Travel, as needed, domestically and internationally.
  • Maintain opportunities, status and actions in CRM and other systems
  • Learn and apply industry technologies to customer solutions (including Storage Technologies, OS/Applications/File Systems, Server Virtualization, Container storage, Data migration / backup / disaster recovery)
  • Identify gaps in the Seagate portfolio and suggest product and or partners to fill these gaps
  • Provide company leading technical expertise in customer-focused solutions for key vertical markets
About you:
  • Established track record working with partners in the channel to identify new opportunities and achieve successful outcomes, while ensuring a satisfying customer experience along the way.
  • Strong knowledge and experience regarding Media & Entertainment workflows, applications, solutions, partners, and end customers.
  • Strong technical experience and understanding of computing technologies used in full solution on premise, private / public cloud, and edge computing environments
  • Objective and open to change - be a change agent to help others do the same
  • Ability to build and nurture trusting relationships with external and internal customers
  • Ability to work hands on for prototypes, demos, assisting customers during the evaluation process, etc.

Your experience includes:
  • Experience in enterprise class storage, compute or networking solutions in a technical sales or presales capacity.
  • Must have successful and relevant channel experience
  • Awareness of current trends in Cloud architecture, Orchestration & Storage
  • Good Understanding of Edge computing trends, and applications of AI and Machine learning in Edge use cases
  • Experience or familiarity in the following: server virtualization, operating systems and file systems, data management, object storage, high availability, disaster recovery solutions, big data analytics
  • Experience in enterprise IT sales or presales with experience of engaging directly or indirectly with large end users
  • 4+ years of work in sales engineering or professional services with enterprise customer
  • Bachelor degree and/or equivalent experience.
Location:

Southern Califronia or USA Remote;#LI-Remote

Travel: Travel can be 20-50%, with overnight stays, and require the ability to travel internationally

Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated annual base salary range for this position: $118,000 - $144,000. This position is also eligible to earn additional commission-based compensation pursuant to an established commission sales plan. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
