Main Duties & Responsibilities
RSA provides flight-critical components and assemblies for the
commercial, defense and business jet markets. RSA designs and produces
custom-engineered high pressure/high-temperature ducting assemblies for each
customer's specific performance requirements. RSA's Peri-SealTM is
one of the most sought-after connectors in the aerospace industry.
Additionally, RSA designs and produces flexible joints and hoses, ozone
converters and many complex assemblies to meet stringent customer needs.
Principal
Responsibilities:
In this position,
the Certified Welder/Fitter II must be able prepare components
(sheet metal, machined, formed) and subassemblies for welding - including all alignment, fitting, trimming, forming, and
pre-assembly - and manually fusion weld (GTAW) together in accordance with all
engineering drawings, supplemental documentation, and specifications. The completed weldments and complex
weldment assemblies must be capable of passing all engineering requirements,
which may include visual weld inspection, pressure/leakage testing, functional
testing, fluorescent penetrant inspection, radiographic (x-ray) inspection, and
other requirements as specified. Components and subassemblies to be prepared and welded
include various types of stainless steel alloys, nickel-based (Inconel) alloys,
commercial pure titanium and titanium alloys, and aluminum alloys.
Basic
Qualifications (Job Requirements):
Must be able to test and certify in accordance with RSA's QAP 8-017 for the following materials, for both groove and fillet weld types:
Stainless steel
Inconel
Titanium
Aluminum
Must be able to maintain certification to the above material types and weld types.
Must be able to weld all materials to the engineering requirements, including x-ray inspection.
Must possess the ability to work with close tolerances, including all preparation and welding.
Must be able to work within the operational (work order) standards and fabricate shop aids to increase efficiency and throughput of weldment assemblies and subassemblies.
Must be able to prepare (trim, fit, cut, scribe, etc.) and weld using tooling/fixtures and shop aids.
Must be able to work without direct supervision.
Must be capable of training other employees in the preparation and welding of parts.
Must be able to maintain a high-level of quality and workmanship.
Must be able and willing to perform all duties of lesser classifications for welding and fitting.
Must maintain a clean working environment for all machines, tools, and equipment.
Must be able to perform routine duties and other duties as assigned.
Preferred
Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Previous experience welding thin-gage materials (0.010 inches to 0.125 inches)
Previous experienced welding with electric turntable (foot-controlled)
Previous experience with AWS D17.1 welding acceptance criteria and requirements.
Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing and welding facilities.
Minimum Education
& Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in metal fitting and welding.
Certifications:
Must pass written and practical tests.All tests will be based on the requirements contained within this job description.

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as blueprints, manufacturing planning (routers), safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate in the English language.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Physical/ Mental Abilities Required:
The employee is
regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, required to walk and
sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk
or hear, and climb and dismount both stairs and platforms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move
up to 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust
focus.
While performing
the duties of this job, the individual occasionally works near moving
mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and
toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise-level
is usually moderate.

The pay range for this position is from $20.67 to $36.00 (hourly).
