Job Description

Healthcare Administration Interns are college students who will have an opportunity to see healthcare from the perspectives of community-based medicine, school-based medicine, and integrated care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Healthcare Administration - General: General interns are assigned to special projects to familiarize themselves with daily operations and the "behind the scenes" management and program development work. Opportunities may include project work, data collection and development, developing patient/staff education and training materials, gathering diagnostic reports, auditing assistance, patient surveys, and/or assisting executive leadership.
  • Healthcare Administration - Quality Improvement (QI): QI Interns assist with administrative Quality Improvement initiatives, including special projects rooted in the IHI model for improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma. Opportunities may include QI projects, running and collection data, gathering diagnostic test reports, auditing assistance, and/or patient survey.

These are not clinical internships; there should be no expectation of being in clinical space and/or shadowing providers.

These internships are unpaid. Credit may be available through arrangements with your institution.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate college student or higher with an interest in healthcare administration
  • Fluency in languages in addition to English are highly desired
